My name is Maurice Brown. I'm a Veteran, a Democratic Socialist, and I’m the running to Represent Syracuse in the New York State Assembly.
A Progressive Vision for Syracuse
Syracuse residents deserve a public transportation system that works. Our renters deserve housing that is truly affordable, not just labeled affordable. Our neighbors deserve access to support services that meet people where they are and respond effectively in times of crisis.
WWe can achieve these things if we demand leadership in Albany that prioritizes working families over the comfort of the wealthy and well connected. It requires the political will to ask the wealthiest New Yorkers and the largest corporations to pay their fair share so we can invest in housing, public transit, healthcare, and childcare here at home.
Our community cannot afford incremental change. We need bold action that lowers costs, strengthens public services, and ensures government works for the people who rely on it most.
Syracuse is worth fighting for. Central New York is worth investing in. And the only way we move forward is together.
Let’s get to work.

Together, we can build a future to believe in.
Affordability
Syracuse has become unaffordable for the average family. National Grid Bills, Eggs, Childcare are just a few of the everyday expenses that have ballooned over the last decade. I will work every day to ensure more money is in the pockets of working families while fighting against corporate greed.
Quality Affordable Housing
Everyone deserves safe, stable, and affordable housing. New York is in the midst of a deepening housing crisis. Rents, evictions, homelessness, housing shortages, and housing prices have reached historic highs. We need real solutions that help working families remain in their homes while increasing the supply of truly affordable housing.
Public Safety
Everyone deserves to feel safe in our community and real public safety starts by investing in Syracuse. We make our community safer by addressing the root causes of crime, not by relying on outdated systems that criminalize poverty, illness, and instability.
