What’s next after election Day? - A message to all who supports us.

June 25th 2026

Hello Friends!

Before I talk about what unfolded that evening, I have to talk about that day. I have to thank the Syracuse Democratic Socialists of America chapter, the Syracuse Working Families Party club, Citizen Action of New York, and everyone else who showed up to Support the Affordability Slate that morning. For a 530am morning of canvass launch, we had over 30 people show up. On the morning of election day, we dropped lit at well over 1000 doors.

Throughout the day, we made phone calls, knocked doors, and contacted nearly every voter in the district. Thank you to everyone who’s showed up and helped make that day possible.

Election night was incredible.

Being in that room with friends, family, supporters, volunteers, staff, and everyone who helped build this campaign was something I will never forget.

Watching the results come in felt a little like a Knicks game. We started the night down 19 points and then watched an unbelievable comeback unfold in real time. Every update brought more energy into the room, and at one point there was even a dead heat tie at 3130 votes each. By the end of the night we found ourselves in a position that felt impossible just a few hours earlier.

No matter what happens next, I want you to know how grateful I am. This campaign has always been bigger than one candidate. Thousands of conversations at doors. Calls made after work. Weekends spent canvassing. Lawn signs. Donations. Social media posts. Bringing friends. Believing that Central New York could ask for more and expect more. None of this happens without people choosing to give their time and energy to something bigger than themselves.

That said, the race is not over.

There are still more than 180 ballots left to be counted. As things stand today, we hold an 82 vote lead, and we like our chances very much, but every ballot deserves to be counted and the final results are not official yet. The Onondaga County Board of Elections will continue to provide the most up to date information about outstanding ballots and vote totals. They are the official source of information throughout this process.

A quick note because I know many of you have reached out: I don’t have any special information beyond what is publicly available, so there’s no need to contact me individually looking for updates. If I learn something meaningful, I promise I’ll share it broadly.

For now, I’m going to try to take this week and spend some time with my dad while he’s in Syracuse. He doesn’t get to visit often, and after the pace of this campaign, I’m looking forward to slowing down for a moment and spending time together. We’ll update everyone as soon as we have more information.

Thank you again for believing in this campaign and for making election night one I’ll remember forever.

If you’re interested, there was a lot of coverage that came out of election night, I’ve updated my Press Clips page to reflect some of it.

Why is Maurice Brown expressing confidence before final certification?

Based on the available results and campaign analysis, Maurice Brown believes the campaign is in a strong position while recognizing that the official outcome depends on completion of the counting process.

When will updated results be available?

Updated vote totals are expected to be released on June 30, 2026.

Why are there still ballots being counted?

Election administration continues after Election Day to ensure every eligible vote is reviewed and counted. This can include ballots that were not included in election night reporting.

Should I reach out to Mo directly to find out if any more votes came in?

No you should not. Mo is exhausted and would like to take the weekend in order to recover. He probably told you to visit this page after you asked him for an update. He loves you, but he doesn’t have any more information.
