Meet Ellen Block: Strengthening District 5 Together
September 24th 2025
Let me introduce you to Ellen Block.
She’s running to be your next Onondaga County Legislator for District 5 with deep roots in our community, a strong background in service, and a vision for accountability, inclusion, and real results.
Ellen Block is not merely a politician; she is a resident of the community. Having relocated to Lyncourt in 2009 with her husband, Nic, she has since established her home there. Her professional engagements in elder care, mental health, and human services provide her with a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by individuals daily.
She believes in leadership that listens first, then acts. Ellen wants to ensure District 5 has stability, transparency, and that our tax dollars go toward solving the problems we already have, not chasing what sounds good on paper but does not work in practice. (ellenblockforlegislator.com)
Ellen’s Vision and Priorities
Based on her experience and what she hears in the community, Ellen is committed to:
Empowering residents by making sure their voices are heard, not just during campaign season but every day
Transparency and accountability in local government, ensuring decisions are clear, data driven, and responsive
Community first solutions that use and improve existing services, facilities, and resources rather than chasing costly new projects that may not deliver
Strong mental health and elder care support because caring for our most vulnerable neighbors is not optional, it is essential
Efficient and fair use of tax dollars that put priorities first and help people locally, not institutions or contractors who are distant from our concerns
Why Ellen Block
Ellen has hands on experience working in human services, in long term care, intergenerational programs, mental health counseling, and nonprofits. She knows what it is like to serve the community and sees up close where systems work and where they fall short. (ellenblockforlegislator.com)
She lives here. She sees both the opportunities and the challenges in Lyncourt and beyond. She cares about our streets, schools, and services not as political talking points but as everyday realities.
Ellen believes in doing more with what we already have, fixing the broken things, and making sure our public tax dollars are spent wisely. No fluff. No lofty promises without follow through. (ellenblockforlegislator.com)
